How To Stay On Track With Your Fitness During The Summer

As a personal trainer, I often get asked how to stay on track with fitness goals during the summer. Don't worry. I'm here to help!

One effective strategy is to join a group. Joining a group allows you to combine fitness with social activities and have fun while staying motivated. Try a fitness or dance class or join a running group. Find what interests you and commit to sticking with it!

The second way to stay on track is by prioritizing your workouts in the morning. Getting your exercise done early eliminates the possibility of other obligations or excuses interfering later in the day. In the morning, you can take a refreshing walk, follow your favorite YouTube workout video, or train with a professional at your local gym. If time is a significant constraint, don't hesitate to ask your trainer if they offer virtual training sessions. Remember, if you're serious about reaching your goals, you must make adjustments rather than excuses.

Another fantastic way to stay on track with your fitness goals during the summer is by engaging in outdoor activities with your family and friends. It's an excellent opportunity to bond while keeping active. Gather everyone for a walk in the park, a bike ride, a swim, or even a friendly game of sports. The possibilities for summer activities with loved ones are endless. You'll stay motivated and create beautiful memories by combining fitness with quality time. So, make the most of the season and enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends!

Lastly, it's essential to be mindful of the food you consume to stay on track with your fitness goals during the summer. While numerous festivals and barbecues may tempt you with delicious treats, you must refrain from using them to indulge in everything that comes your way. Make conscious choices by opting for lean proteins like chicken and seafood instead of beef or pork. Avoid extra sauces, especially cream- or cheese-based ones, as they can add unnecessary calories. Instead of sugary juices, prioritize water or seltzer as your go-to beverages. If you choose to drink alcohol, curb your consumption to two drinks on one day per week. A helpful trick I use when I have an upcoming event is to reduce my calorie intake the day before or on the day of the event itself. Lowering my calories before an event allows me to enjoy special treats like a hot dog fresh off the grill without feeling guilty. By planning and being mindful of your food choices, you can balance indulging in summer delights with staying on top of your fitness goals.

In closing, moderation and conscious decision-making are vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle throughout the summer. However, remember to live in the moment, enjoy yourself, and make memories! Now go out and have some fun. Stay hydrated and use sunscreen.
